DETAILS TO HELP MAKE YOUR TRAVEL PLANS

Airport: Rapid City Regional (RAP) is about an hour away from Deadwood. Other airports to check out with occasional deals depending on where you’re going to/from are Gilette, Wyoming and Chadron, Nebraska – both about two hours drive from Deadwood.

Transportation: Airport is about an hour away from Deadwood, renting a car is probably the best option as there is lots to see in a short distance of Deadwood and driving around the Black Hills is truly wonderful! Lyft announced that it is offering services in the Black Hills. We can’t confirm or deny how reliable Lyft will be, but it might be an option.

Food & Dining

If you find yourself in town early and want to go exploring the food & drink (our favorite part of any trip!) here are some of our favorites!

_________________________________________________

LEAD (pronounced LEED):
Dakota Shivers – a tiny brewery with limited hours but super cool!
Cheyenne Crossing – awesome hole in the wall mom and pop joint. Great breakfast, and also an Indian Taco that’s been written up in national magazines.
Lewie’s – great old scrungey (in the best way possible) hole in the wall bar/grill
Sled Haus – similar, but with a more Germanic/Oktoberfest vibe
DEADWOOD
The Grill at the Lodge – for dinner. Nicer, but super yummy (may want to eat there before the hoards arrive)
Legends – The restaurant at the Franklin Hotel. They also have a pretty good casino-style buffet at their building across the street the Silverado Franklin with crab legs on weekends. The Franklin Hotel was the premier hotel in Deadwood back in the day and is very neat to walk around and look at.
SPEARFISH
Blackbird Espresso – An office favorite for coffee and baked goods.
Crow Peak Brewery – local brewery (can also drink Crow Peak all over the Black Hills at restaurants and bars). They have very limited food.
Dough Traders – is a great local sourdough pizza place
Bay Leaf – a nice spot for lunch/dinner
RAPID CITY
Tally’s Silver Spoon – good American new food (rumor has it chef’s choice menu is UH-mazing)
The Blind Lion – limited access speakeasy – must text for reservations, limited winter hours
The Firehouse Brewing Co. – Bar and Grill also has a wine bar next door
Pure Bean Coffee – We even have hipsters here. But they do make AWESOME espresso!
Hay Camp Brewing Company – A favorite local brewery
HILL CITY
Prairie Berry Winery – great lunch food and dessert along with free award-winning wine tastings.
Miners Brewery – next door to Prairie Berry, beer-focused.
